inspecting the new Ports to the northward, the consideration of tenders for the construction of three Police stations, already adverted to in my Despatch No. 51, came before the Lieutenant Governor and Council, and a tender from Mr Hawkins to the amount of 10,500 dollars was accepted, as it did not materially exceed the amount estimated by the Land Office. It was also resolved that the Chek Chu police station be executed by the Land Office, under Mr Hillier's superintendence at the estimated cost of $8,400.
A letter having been received from the Chief Police Magistrate on the urgent necessity for a Debtor's prison, it was resolved that he be directed to communicate with the Land Office on the subject, and that a proper building be hereafter erected within the Magistracy
